Hidden Money
Privacy Policy
Effective June 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Hidden Money (“Hidden Money,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Hidden Money mobile app and related services (the “App”). The App lets you photograph household items to estimate their resale value, list items in a local peer-to-peer marketplace, message other users, and track sales and donations.
We built the App to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible. You can take your first scan without creating an account, and the App does not use your device’s GPS or precise location services.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Facebook, we receive your name and email address (where you permit it) and a unique account identifier from that provider. Signing in is optional and is used to save your credits, listings, and messages across devices.
- Item photos and details. Photos you take or select to scan or list, plus any details you add (title, description, condition, brand/model hints, and your asking price).
- Location. To browse, you can enter a ZIP code, which we convert into an approximate city/region used to show nearby listings and distances. If you list an item for sale, you may enter a full street address so a buyer you approve can arrange pickup; we convert it into coordinates for mapping. Your exact address and coordinates are never shown publicly — the marketplace shows only your approximate city and distance, and your exact address is shared only when you, as the seller, choose to share it with a specific buyer in a message thread. We do not access your device’s GPS; location is derived only from the ZIP or address you type.
- Messages. Messages you send to other users about marketplace listings.
- Donation records. Items you mark as donated, the charity name, and the fair-market value you record, so the App can produce a donation summary for your own tax records.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier. A random identifier generated by the App on your device, used to provide your free scan and to operate the App before (or instead of) signing in.
- Push notification token. If you enable notifications, Apple provides us a device token so we can notify you about new marketplace messages.
- Purchase records. When you buy credits, Apple processes the payment and provides us a transaction receipt (product purchased and a transaction identifier) so we can add credits to your balance. We never receive your credit card or payment details.
- Limited diagnostic data.Basic, non-precise technical data needed to run the service. We do not use advertising trackers, and the App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission or collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA).
How We Use Information
- To identify items in your photos and estimate their resale value.
- To create marketplace listings and show you nearby listings and distances.
- To enable messaging between buyers and sellers.
- To process credit purchases and maintain your balance.
- To send you notifications you have enabled.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the App.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How Information Is Shared
With other users (marketplace)
When you list an item for sale, other users can see the item’s photos, title, description, condition, price, your display name, and an approximate area and distance. We do not show your exact address or precise coordinates in the public feed. If you message a buyer or seller, your messages are shared with that person. A seller may choose to share a more exact pickup location within a specific message thread. Please note that listing photos are served from a publicly accessible URL and may be viewable by anyone who has the link.
With service providers
We use the following providers to operate the App. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- OpenAI — we send item photos and details to analyze and identify items and estimate value.
- Supabase — database and photo storage hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, and push notification delivery.
- Meta (Facebook) — Facebook Login, if you choose it.
- Bright Data / eBay — to retrieve comparable sold-item prices, we send item search terms (for example, brand and model). We do not send your personal information for this purpose.
Other disclosures
We may disclose information to comply with the law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public. If the App is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
